Linking communities and our future . . .

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority and its partners have embarked on a study of public transportation options for the corridor connecting Buffalo and Amherst. This could include an extension of Metro Rail, improvements to current bus service or something else altogether, like bus rapid transit. We do not know where the study is headed. We do know that together we can make getting around the region safer, more environmentally friendly and cost effective. So join us. The discussion starts here and now.

What is this?

One bowl of porridge was too hot, one was too cold and one bowl was . . . well, you know the story.  Goldilocks didn’t just gobble down the first meal she found.  She did a study of her needs and got things just right.  That is what we are going to do.  Together.  The NFTA and its partners have laid down the groundwork – and will have to be responsible for the budget – but whole project exists to fill a public need.  There’s no better place to find out about public need than the public.  We are looking for ideas, input on ideas and realistic analysis of the opportunities before us.

There are a number of ways to participate.  Familiarize yourself with the materials on this site.  Post a comment to any and all of the articles posted.  Sign up for Instant Updates – a free e-mail/text service that will keep you in the loop on this topic, and a number of other transportation-related subjects.  You can also follow TO Amherst on Facebook.

The Timeline will let you know when another meeting has been scheduled or publication released.

And we are always open to suggestions.  Let us know what you think.  In the end, that is the whole point.  Public Transportation is the most economical, energy-efficient way to move people about.  Working together we can create one that’s just right.
